Ian McKellen stars as crusty, eccentric, once-famous painter, Julian Sklar. The Christophers are two renowned series of portraits of his first lover...but wait, there is a third series of Christopher portraits that he never finished. Enter his two unscrupulous offspring (played by James Cordon and Jessica Gunning) who hire an up-and-coming young artist to complete the paintings so they can make a fortune when Sklar dies. So who is the most conniving -- the kids? Or the forger?
Highly recommended for anyone interested in painting as it depicts the life of an artist and touches on various aspects of art in general. It's a sly black comedy featuring the relationship that develops between the characters played by McKellen and Michaela Coel (an accomplished writer, director, and actor who is also outstanding in this film).
If you're a fan of typical British humour and great repartee, this is a must-see!
